Lauded by Opera Today for her “sweet” and “natural” sounds, soprano Ashley
Fabian is quickly garnering recognition for her artistry. She is a recent winner of the
Encouragement Award in the Illinois District MONC Auditions (Chicago), as well as a
winner in the Orpheus Vocal Competition and Grand Concours Franco-American
Competition. She was a finalist in the Piccola Opera Competition and semi-finalist in
the International Marcello Giordani Competition, Lois Alba Aria Competition, and Opera
Index. She received a Young Artist Award from Central City Opera in 2015.
Ms. Fabian has performed several operatic roles, including Madame Silberklang/The Impresario, Susanna/Le nozze di Figaro, The Princess/Transformations, Laetitia/The Old Maid and the Thief, and Bastienne/Bastien und Bastienne. As a lover of new music, she has also premiered roles such as Venus/The Golden Ass, and Sister Sparrow/Bre’r Rabbit and the Tar Baby. She joined Cincinnati Opera as Knabe 1 in their summer 2017 production of The Magic Flute. She has bowed with companies such as Asheville Lyric Opera, Opera Charleston, Central City Opera, and Virginia Arts Festival.
Equally as comfortable on the concert stage, Ms. Fabian has appeared as a soloist with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra singing Faure’s Requiem. She has also appeared with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in their Magnetic Concert Series, The Piccolo Spoleto Festival, and the CCM Philharmonia. Some recent concert works include Handel’s Dixit Dominus, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and a fully staged production of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. She holds a M.M. from The University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, and a B.A. and Artist Diploma from The College of Charleston.
