La bohème - Paris, Friendship, Art and Love
Thursday, March 21, 2019
to Thursday, March 21, 2019
7:00 - 8:30 pm
Location: The Little House Annex of Revival
La bohème is one of the most beloved operas of all times. It has been performed over 1,200 times at the Metropolitan Opera and many times in Pittsburgh. It has been featured in dozens of soundtracks and has been made into a Broadway production. It will be performed again in Pittsburgh this Spring. Bona Fide Bellevue is sponsoring a unique opportunity for you to learn to love and enjoy La Boheme.
Many people attending an opera give all their attention to the words flashed above the stage. While this feature is a valuable aid to audiences it can also detract from the total experience. Samuele Bozzolla, a Bellevue resident and grandson of the world renown opera singer Ezio Pinza, will be speaking about how to fully appreciate La bohème, which happens to be his favorite opera. He will discuss the plot and the subject of each act so that the opera goer can focus on and enjoy other aspects of the opera as well. He will talk about what to look for in each act, what pieces are the most well-known, how the voices are showcased, and much more.
The class will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 7:00 to 8:30 at The Little House Annex of Revival located at 366 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue. To register for the class, go to bonafidebellevue.com and click on the event in the upcoming events list. The cost is only $5 and entitles each registrant to a 20% discount off the price of opera tickets from the Pittsburgh Opera. Students may want to buy tickets for the April 5th performance to meet up with Samuele at the intermission and talk opera!
