Pittsburgh Opera is holding general auditions for the Pittburgh Opera Chorus!
The annual open chorus auditions with Chorus Master, Mark Trawka, will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 6:30 - 9:30PM at Pittsburgh Opera's headquarters in the Strip District.
Auditions are open classically-trained singers in all voice categories who have completed at least one year of undergraduate vocal study, or equivalent. Auditions last 5 minutes in duration and an accompanist is provided.
Auditions are by appointment only. To apply for an audition, applicants may submit a resume to Robert Boldin, Manager of Artistic Administration via email. Applicants who are granted an audition will be notified by Monday, May 8, 2017. Times will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The application process will remain open until all audition times have been filled. Please include Pittsburgh Opera Chorus Audition in the subject line of your email. No phone calls please.
REQUIREMENTS:
- One selection in a foreign language (preferably Italian, French or German)
- Operatic repertoire is preferred; art song selections will also be accepted
- Your selection must be memorized
- An accompanist will be provided
- Please bring music in the correct key
- Your audition may also include sight-reading and vocalization
Pittsburgh Opera Chorus members belong to the American Guild of Musical Artists union.
