Please join Propel Schools’ Co-Founder Jeremy Resnick and Superintendent/CEO Dr. Tina Chekan in enjoying the creations of Propel’s K-12 Afterschool artists. The students will showcase what they’ve learned about opera and the projects they’ve created.
Pittsburgh Opera shipped an Opera Improv Trunk to Propel Northside for Opera Teaching Artist Mia Bonnewell to use throughout the After School Program opera residency.
In January, a team of teaching artists presented an “Opera Improv” for students and parents to introduce opera in an accessible way, and to whet students' appetites to explore the elements of opera.
Mia planned a series of lesson experiences and activities designed to introduce opera concepts, extend arts vocabulary, and to explore students’ interests. She meets with students on Monday-Thursday afternoons each week.
